In a world where political expression in pop is often either loud and angry or non-existent, there is a need for nuance; preferably in the form of strong FLINTA voices that point out current grievances with a cool head and thus initiate change. Eilis Frawley achieves this feat with razor-sharp precision, while at the same time taking a playful and experimental, subtle look at her surroundings and inviting listeners into her very personal, wonderfully intentional-sounding emotional world.
The Australian-born musician finally lands in Berlin after a stopover in Seoul. As a classically trained percussionist, she has always found connections in queer communities and FLINTA band projects. Eilis has played in various well-known groups such as ‘Laura Lee & The Jettes’, ‘Party Fears’ and ‘I Drew Blank’, and plays currently with her own bands Kara Delik (Turkish post punk) or Restless (noisy punk).
Now, after several singles and two EPs, Eilis Frawley is releasing her first full-length solo album ‘Fall Forward’ with ten songs on 7 March 2025 on Sinnbus. The record was co-produced by Kat Frankie, who has long been a fan of Eilis Frawley. Together, the two artists have recorded a sophisticated, experimental indie album with influences from pop, jazz and krautrock. ‘Fall Forward’ is a unique cosmos of sound - innovative, clever and always stylistically confident. It is made up of present drums, experimental spoken word and layered vocals, sometimes spherical, sometimes playful synthesiser sounds and groovy basslines.
